Ali Nouira - Steam (PDF)
The Effect: You hand your spectator a bunch of thick, opaque paper billets, asking them to choose any one they like. They are then asked to think of ANY playing card and to write it on the billet, fold it up and staple it shut. They are now asked to confirm that the information inside cannot possibly be read through the thick, opaque billet, even when held up to the light. All of this takes place while your back is turned. Now you turn back round and the billet is covered with a deck of cards which is then covered with the spectator’s hands - THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN KNOW WHAT THE SPECTATOR IS THINKING OF! Despite this, she thinks intently of her card while you concentrate deeply in an attempt to receive her thoughts! Now, you remove a single playing card from the deck - the spectator names her card for the first time. You slowly turn the card to show that you have somehow read her mind - IT IS THE VERY CARD SHE IS THINKING OF!
POINTS TO NOTE: You never touch the billet after it is hermetically sealed! The billet need never be opened and you genuinely can see nothing that is written inside! The method is absolutely INCREDIBLE! You will not have seen ANYTHING like this before!
You needn't limit yourself to playing cards - anything that is written down can be accurately divined!
